We hear it over and over again –
you’ll find someone when you stop looking. Sure, its
easy for them to say that since “they” have probably
been happily married for 12 years or so. Still, most of us
have experienced the truth in this statement; it IS possible
for singles to be happy.
The key to flirting is not to show off, but actually to subtly
express your interest. Overt expressions of interest do not
really constitute a good flirting effort, and will usually
creep the subject of the non-flirting out. Instead, go for
gentle suggestion of interest.
1. Be sincere
Subtle expressions of real interest are usually the best ways
to flirt. If you’re not comfortable flirting with an
online match, then practice with someone you are comfortable
with. Flirting with an online date or in real-time will just
come off as forced if you are not comfortable. Say something
that is sincere – if you love your conversations, then
say exactly that – the subject of your flirtation will
probably get the message
2. Show real interest
In the online dating world as in the real world, it is easy
to determine if someone has real interest in you. If you are
interested in someone, show that interest by asking open-ended
questions and really paying attention to the answers. This
will let the person know you are interested and have the added
bonus of helping you to get to know the person better.
3. Great seduction happens in stages
Every great flirt knows that you can’t jump into a great
flirtation; it takes time. The first step is setting the stage
through developing a friendship and establishing trust. Once
trust has been established, subtle overtures of interest can
be made. If these overtures are well received, you can step
up your efforts and work your way up to a full-blown flirtation.
The important thing is not to let your online date lose interest
– keep it exciting, that is the trademark of a great
flirt.
Online dating is a great forum for flirtation. If done well,
a flirtation will capture the imagination of the subject of
your interest and keep him or her interested and excited to
hear from you again. When you find your online personals match,
